All about Portishead

Our loft apartment is situated in the heart of the beautiful coastal town of Portishead.

The popular historical fishing port overlooks the stunning Severn Estuary, with views to Wales on a fine day. It is also just five miles from Bristol, a major and bustling city.

There is also a modern development, Portishead Marina with a variety of bars, restaurants and cafés offering wonderful views of yachts and sailing boats.

For those that prefer outdoor activities there’s Gordano Valley Nature Reserve, Battery Point and the Clevedon Coast Path nearby. All wonderful for walkers.

In the summer months, Portishead’s outdoor swimming pool opens and there’s also a boating lake.

To add to all this, there are lots of events throughout the year including the Portishead Carnival, Flower Show and a Raft Race. In the run up to Christmas, the town centre is decorated with twinkling festive lights and there’s a special Victorian evening each December. Why not book in to do your Christmas shopping?

But one of its biggest claims to fame internationally was when a Bristol-based band called themselves after the town and ‘Portishead’ became a chart topper!

Being very close to the M5, with easy access to the rest of Somerset and the South West, it’s the perfect destination for those travelling from further afield en route to Devon or Cornwall.

It’s also a great weekend getaway location for those wishing to escape Bristol for a few days.
